So Percussion’s Benefit Party and Silent Auction

On September 25, 2013, So Percussion held its Benefit Party and Silent Auction on a beautiful rooftop in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The percussion ensemble was honoring David Lang.

Of course, some music was performed by So themselves, as well as by composer/guitarist Bryce Dessner from The National:

It was a beautiful night but when the time came to perform an excerpt from David Lang’s The so-called laws of nature (2002), the light was already too low for So Percussion to read their scores. They invited people in attendance to light their table with their smartphones’ flashlights:

People were invited to bid on items from Tristan Perich, BAM, LPR, Ecstatic Music Festival, the Met Opera, Victoria Valencia, Cacao Prieto, The Lowe Bureau, Long Tail Audio, Jason Treuting, White-Starr Aesthetic Consulting, Q2 Music, Cantaloupe Music, WFMU, and others.
