MATA Jr. Festival
MATA presents its fifth annual MATA Jr. Festival in partnership with the Kaufman Music Center’s teen new-music ensemble Face the Music. The culmination of a six-month mentorship process, the event will feature Face the Music performing newly composed works by six young composers ranging in age from eleven to eighteen selected from a global search together with music of their mentors, MATA-alumni composers Murat Çolak (MATA 2017), Molly Herron (MATA 2017), and Shawn Jaeger (MATA 2018).

Leila Bordreuil
The Kitchen presents Leila Bordreuil’s Piece for Cello and Double Bass Ensemble II, the newest in her series of compositions for amplified cello and six double-basses, which she began in 2015. This work will feature her largest and loudest ensemble yet, creating a violent wall of sound as she uses varied amps and microphones to give immense proportions and unrecognizable textures to acoustic instruments.
