Benefit event for Robert Boston’s new chamber opera Trust in the You of Now

Ouroboros Co. and Spectrum NYC present a concert to benefit the upcoming production of Trust in the You of Now, a new chamber opera by Robert Boston, libretto by Kimberly Pau. Performances will be by Robert Boston and members of the orchestra who will be featured in the premiere of the first act of the opera at Theater for the New City on May 15-18, 2014.

The adventurous Mivos Quartet make a memorable night of new music with legendary poet and performer Saul Williams. The program is centered around the US premiere of NGH WHT, a major composition by Saul Williams and Thomas Kessler, originally written for the Arditti Quartet. Williams and Mivos will also present new solo and collaborative work created together, including a broad new interpretation of Williams’s No One Ever Does.

Two iconoclastic composer/performers with their ears open to an enormous range of sounds and forms, composer/percussionist Susie Ibarra and vocalist/songwriter Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn, debut a new collaborative work exploring the substance and ethereality of spacewalks, sound and the human experience: How has perception and perspective been altered by the advent of star sailing? Written for small ensemble, the piece integrates percussion, strings and voice in a delicate and inquisitive opera. The program also includes new arrangements of works by both artists. With Steven Reker, voice; Alex Guy, viola; and Matt Gold, percussion.
