In its opening concert of the season, Contemporaneous performs a show of frantic magic encompassing a series of pieces that provide a surround-sound explosion of energy and childlike wonder. This is music that moves like data across the internet or electrons around the nucleus.

Cantata Profrana performs a program that runs the emotional gamut from the drama of The Tempest portrayed in the Court Studies of Thomas Adès to the jovial elegance of the Mozart’s E Major Piano Trio K.542. The direct austerity of Galina Ustvolskaya’s Trio for violin, clarinet, and piano, and the whimsical counterpoint of Jukka Tiensuu’s Plus II for cello and clarinet will complete the program.
