The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and the Park Avenue Armory host an open commemoration of the life and work of Pauline Oliveros on Monday, February 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. From 4pm to 8pm, there will be installations, meditations, stories, and performances followed by a concert at 8 PM.

The Fool | Raúl De Nieves

From February 9-11, The Kitchen will present The Fool, a chamber opera by Raúl De Nieves and Colin Self. Scored in four acts for chorus and string ensemble, The Fool is an allegorical journey, drawing an ante-narrative around time, beauty, communion and mortality. The production stars Colin Self as the Old Woman, Raúl De Nieves as The Fool and the Dog, Alexandra Drewchin as the Child and Mehron Abdollmohammadi as the Mother.

Joplin 150

In celebration of Joplin’s superlative music and its vast influence, Composers Concordance presents the program Joplin 150 at Spectrum NYC. Pianists Marija Ilic, Tristan Cano, and Jacob Rhodebeck will perform several of Joplin’s own compositions, plus contemporary compositions by Bruce Arnold, Charles Coleman, Dan Cooper, Peter Jarvis, Arthur Kampela, Gene Pritsker, Anton Rovner, and Sergio Valenzuela, among others.
