A night “inspired by themes of extremities, brilliance, and shadow,” Light and Dark focused on the music of Richard Carrick and included the world premiere of Prisoner’s Cinema, commissioned by Hotel Elefant.

Two world premieres by other composers were also on the program: Kirsten Volness’s new song cycle Precious Nothing, with poetry by playwright Adara Meyers and Leaha Maria Villarreal’s sextet Dark Matter.
