We are currently seeking freelance writers to join the I CARE IF YOU LISTEN contributor team.
I CARE IF YOU LISTEN is the leading publication for contemporary classical and experimental music in the United States. Our content offerings include album and concert reviews, artist profiles and interviews, preview pieces, curated playlists, and essays. Our mission is to present a diverse vision of the contemporary music scene and advocate for communities that have been historically marginalized in Western classical music spaces.
We are explicitly looking to broaden our capacity for live performance reviews in specific cities, so we are only inviting applications from people who currently reside in the following metro areas: New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Los Angeles.
Additional Qualifications:
- Previous experience in arts journalism required (music criticism strongly preferred)
- Experience working on tight deadlines strongly preferred
- Availability to attend concerts and interest in predominantly reviewing live events
- Demonstrated commitment to equity when covering historically marginalized communities
