Honoring Marilyn Nonken: Nouveau Classical Project Benefit 2014

The Nouveau Classical Project will honor pianist Marilyn Nonken with the 2014 NCP Visionary Award at their Annual Benefit. This award recognizes innovative leaders whose work has made a significant impact on the new music community. In addition to being an incredible musician, Ms. Nonken is the Director of Piano Studies at New York University and recently wrote the book The Spectral Piano: From Liszt, Debussy and Scriabin to the Digital Age, published by Cambridge University Press.

Tokyo to New York Concerts celebrate the connections between Tokyo and New York City. Olivier Garde, harpsichord: Music of Sasha Zamler-Carhart and Jean-Philippe Rameau
An evening of French harpsichord music by Geneva-based performer Olivier Garde, featuring the Pièces de clavecin, a revolutionary exploration of timbre, color and sensuality at the keyboard by 18th-century composer Jean-Philippe Rameau, and the Livre de pièces de clavecin, a contemporary take on the solo harpischord by living French composer Sasha Zamler-Carhart. This program premiered and toured in Japan in May-June 2014 and this evening’s performance is the U.S. premiere.
